"Form Follow Function" and "Function Follow Form"

Form Follows Function VS Function Follows Form. 

Here is the definition of it from the Wikipedia, "It is a principle that associated with modern architecture and industrial design in the 20th century. The principle is that the shape of a building or object should be primarily based upon its intended function or purpose."

Form follows function or function follows form?

Form follows function is easy to understand well because from my understanding generally, the subject will be created based from it functionality and it result should fit with its purpose. For example that I can give is a basketball shoe's form doesn't come out just like that if we don't make a research about it's function on how it'll give comfort to it's user, how it can absorb pressure from jumping up and down, and so on. So in other words, function will decide it's form.

Function follows form is basically reverse to the form follows function and the subject or whatever we created must be fit to its function and with its form too. For me, I think it is a hard way because we cannot imagine our final outcome fit with the function as we basically do the easier way as form always follows the product.

In conclusion, I choose Form Follows Function because it is clearly better than the Function Follows Form in a lot of ways.

Bus Stop Model

After doing all the cutting and pasting for one whole day, my bus stop model is finally finished!! So here it is, sorry for the low quality photo since it's taken from my camera phone only.

After doing some sketches from hand drawn, I finally choose this design to make as my advertisement on my bus stop before model it out. I choose the basic colour from it's logo to make my bus stop as well.

Local Brand/Product

For this task, we were given the the opportunity to choose our own product or brand but with one option, it must be local and must not be same as any other people. So it means first come first serve. It's quite hard to think of local products since there's a lot of students in class and they have chosen their brands quite fast. After doing a lot of thinking I choose the Unifi product from Telekom Malaysia (TM).

It's quite hard to this local product since it's quite new but I'm going to challenge myself to make it happen. After going through the Google Image to look for advertisement done by other people so I can it as my reference, below are a few pictures I took for my studies.

Environmental Design : Step 1

In this project, we were given the task to take pictures of information counter and kiosk. So I choose KLCC to do this task since I was around that area. At first I was kind of afraid to do so since my lecturer said we could be chased away by the guards, but after asking the guards for permission, actually they let us to take pictures without going to chase us around hahaha! There were so many people on that day and it was crowded because there was an event happening on that day but I still managed to get few good pictures. So below is the pictures chosen to this task.

MCC0033 Computer Graphics III (Assignment 2-Interactive Poster)

Our assignment 2 is based from the assignment 1 which is the 1Malaysia poster and we need to transform and add movements using Adobe Flash...Here are the steps taken to make my static poster to a new interactive poster...

Step 1: Firstly I select few lines into group and convert it into a symbol...then I double click it so that I can change the motion for each group...using the rectangle tool, I create a small box at the center of the lines and make a classic tween(resize) to cover the whole lines....then i select the rectangle layer and make it as mask to the lines layer so that it'll look like its coming out from the center stage...after all that, i create another layer and put in a stop script so that it wont repeat itself...

   

Step 2: After putting effect on the lines layer, I group the spirals and change it to symbols so that it'll be easier to work on it...to work with each spirals, I double click it and make an effect of it coming out from the center as well..to do this, I use the brush tool on each frame from the center until it covers the whole spiral....then I right click on the brush layer and make it as a mask to the spiral...at the end, I put another stop action script so that it wont repeat....

Step 3: As for the pictures, I put it as different layers so that I can work with each pictures and create them as symbols....with the alpha style under the color effect of each symbol's properties, I make the pictures flickers...

Step 4: Then I apply the techniques to each picture layers but at different frames so that the pictures won't come into stage at once....

Step 5: As for the picture on the bottom of the stage, I put it on another layer and make it a symbol as well...after that, I resize it to become smaller and and change the alpha to 0....at the end of the frame, I make the picture bigger and change the alpha to 100 again and make a classic tween on it....

Step 6: Lastly for the stamp text, I create a symbol from it, resize it to be bigger, rotate it counter clockwise and change the alpha to 0...at the end of the frame, I added a new keyframe and change it back to normal and make a classic tween on it....after finishing with the animations, I added a sound effect when the text animation finish so that it'll look like a stamp and also a song for my whole animation....
